These are the key components to AFT's philosophy on personal fitness training.
Any certified trainer can explain and show you how to use and lift weights, but the key to long-term success is learning proper mechanics, correct lifting technique and the understanding of these principles and how they apply differently to each and every individual. Everyone's genetic make-up, muscular development, and physical abilities are different. They can also be altered over time, or change with age.
This is why AFT believes in providing a "personal coach" and building programs for individuals based on skills and abilities, rather than what is shown in a book. Eating healthy and staying in shape are simply lifestyles. There are no diets, there are no overnight routines, and there are no pills that can sustain your goals in the long run. It is an all-encompassing regimen that will foster results now and well into the future.
